Meet our match, Jennifer and Erica!

Erica recently completed a post-secondary degree and came to Lead(h)er looking for a mentor who can help her translate the things she is passionate about into her professional life. She was hoping we could match her with someone who is confident both personally and professionally, and who is willing to offer guidance and advice.

Enter Jennifer - Jennifer is a leader in the field of elementary education, and had recently experienced a really positive mentoring relationship. She was ready to pay it forward and help another woman who would like the help.

After a little time together, they sent us this picture and Erica included a little bit of her personal testimony about the experience. This is what she had to say:

"I struggle, because while I want a mentor to help with my career path, I am not exactly sure what it is I'm looking for.  I appreciate Jennifer's ability to listen and decipher what it is I am trying to say.  I like how she offers suggestions and encourages me to think outside of the box.  I am still not sure where the future will take me, but I like having someone that I can bounce ideas off of and who can share their own experiences with me."

That's great insight, Erica! Being uncertain about our career path is a normal part of career development, and it truly is SO helpful to have someone who is able to hear what you have to say and help you decipher what you want to do next. It is particularly helpful when that person is not connected to the work you're doing, which is one of the unique offerings of Lead(her)s' Strike a Match program.
