Igniting Our Own Potential: A New Website for Lead(h)er
We are counting down the hours until we unveil our brand new site, and we couldn't have done it without the creativity and talents of Heather White Design. Heather is a one-woman-show who inspired us to dream big, and the outcome is definitely all that we dreamed of and more. We wanted to play on our fiery logo, but give it a polished, professional look.
To tell you a little bit about the re-design process, we invited Heather to share the inside scoop on creating our new site.
(h): What was your favorite part about working on Lead(h)er’s web design project?
HWD: My favorite part of working on the redesign was being able to help Lead(h)er expose its true potential and help attract new mentees and mentors. It was also amazing to see the passion behind Lead(h)er's vision and why they do what they do.
(h): What was the biggest challenge of working on the project?
HWD: Honestly, the only challenge has been for myself --- waiting anxiously to finally publish the website and share with everyone!
(h): Where did you draw your inspiration for the new design?
HWD: When you work with such an amazing organization, inspiration comes easily! Lead(h)er already had an established brand identity so I was able to easily build off of that and make the website highlight their key features in a way that would attract new mentors and mentees.
As part of the process, I also sat down with Melissa and Sarah to discuss their vision for the new site, analyze a few of their "inspiration" sites and competitors, as well as review a detailed questionnaire that I asked them to complete which guided my design decisions even further.
We also knew we wanted the imagery of the site to focus on the "real" matches happening in our community, so I want to give a shout out to Shared Light Photography for her amazing work, as well as all the mentees and mentors who participated in our photoshoot.
(h): What is your favorite page on the new site?
HWD: My favorite page on the new website is actually the Blog. With the relaunch, the focus of the blog changed to highlight more of the amazing Match stories that occur every day because of Lead(h)er. It was so fun to build out this page and read all of the stories and see how Lead(h)er is impacting young women in our community by setting them up with an experienced leader - that for most is becoming not only a "mentorship" but quickly becoming a "friendship"
(h): Anything else you want us to know?
HWD: Not only did I work with Lead(h)er on the redesign project, I also participate as a mentor. I couldn't have asked for a better match with my mentee, Allison, and I want to thank Lead(h)er for getting us connected!
